Chudleys would like to congratulate Penny Darragh and her Irish Setter Ft Ch Erinvale Gemma (Gem) on winning the Pointer & Setter Champion Stake 2008.
The event took place at the Byrecleugh Estate and saw a record number of entries with 56 dogs entered, and 50 dogs run on the day.
Penny had qualified with Gem by winning the Scottish Field Trials Association’s Open Stake only two days prior to the event and continued this success by taking the Heywood Lonsdale Perpetual Challenge trophy for the Champion Stake, the Lady Auckland Memorial trophy for best display of quartering in the Stake and an engraved copper salver for best natural backer.
Gem was bred by Penny’s husband Billy Darragh and between them the Darragh team have won this prestigious event five times; three times with an Irish Setter and twice with a Gordon Setter. Gem is just one of the winning Setters from this very successful team, with Gem and her kennel mates collecting seven first places this season.
The Darraghs feed all of their dogs Chudleys, and believe that this good nutrition is an essential part of their success; Gem was reared on Chudley’s Puppy food (plus Starter Milk) and now enjoys Chudley’s Greyhound Racer food each day.
Everybody at Chudleys would like to take the opportunity to wish Penny and Gem further success for the future.
